About Me…

I teach people how to train and handle their dogs. Though this sounds simple, there’s quite a bit more to this and you have probably figured this out because you’re now looking into dog training services. Identifying and achieving people’s goals is the focus of my work, but allow me to expand so you understand my experience and commitment to my craft.

Teaching a young client the basics.
Knowledge and consistency is the key.

For over 30 years I have worked with hundreds of people and their dogs. It’s been my intention to help people acheive their individual goals, whether it’s the basics (sit/stay/come) or high level competion. I understand dogs and their owners. I know what motivates dogs and how to get the best out of them.

1996 North American Schutzhund III Championship

Some of my clients have me work with their family pets. Some of the dogs are young puppies who need to get started out correctly. Others have some rather serious problems that require a bit of work to straighten out.

Bad habits are hard to break without professional help.

Also, I’ve worked on movie sets where the dogs are the key actors. I train Police K9s, personal protection dogs, and top-level competition dogs.

Dave & Hooch
Here I am on the set of Turner & Hooch, 1988

I have competed in Schutzhund at the highest levels, both nationally and internationally. I have owned/trained some of the finest working rottweilers of their time. I have been doing helper work since 1983 and am the training director for three Bay Area Schutzhund Clubs.

I have been the training advisor/coach for numerous dog handler teams at the club, regional, and national level. I have also helped people and their dogs acheive AKC titles (CD, CDX, TD, TDX) as well as pass the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test.

I work with and supply Police dogs to departments and supplement their training and bite work.

Nevada Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol K9)

I live in Aromas, California, which is a rural community between Carmel and San Jose, California.  Many of my clients are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast of California. Some of my clients are from other western states including Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. We are close to Silicon Valley and are available for onsite training or at one of many facilities located throughout the south bay.

Please contact me at (831) 663-0459 to start training your dog or have further questions. I look forward to speaking and working with you.
